Specifically, Ms. Townsend handles litigation from the discovery phase up to and through trial. Ms. Townsend has also developed legal compliance programs for business and property owners in all 50 states and internationally. She has successfully defended proprietors and operators of entertainment venues such as baseball stadiums, hockey stadiums, golf courses, and music venues. She was lead trial counsel on Bertin v Mann, in which she successfully represented an individual who was named as a defendant arising out of a golf cart accident on a private golf course. Ms. Townsend has also successfully represented food and beverage vendors for alcohol-related accidents and incidents involving alleged negligence in food preparation and service.
Ms. Townsend has published several articles related to general liability matters, including articles which have been featured in regional and national publications directed to insurers, corporations, and defense counsel. She has also conducted several presentations on evolving areas of law for clients and industry leaders. Renee Townsend serves as Michigan Revisor for AM Best’s Insurance Law Digest. AM Best Company is a global credit rating company serving the insurance industry. The Insurance Law Digest is a resource providing a summary of insurance laws for each state and several Canadian Provinces. She earned her Juris Doctor (cum laude) from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2010 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies from Eastern Michigan University in 2007. Ms. Townsend is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
