Eminent Domain/Condemnation

The attorneys in this subgroup work with our municipal clients in the acquisition of land for public purposes-the improvement of public roads, the extension of sanitary sewer and water facilities, the establishment of public parks and recreation, and the like-through purchase or by formal condemnation procedures when necessary. We have extensive experience in the negotiation of acquisition documents and in the commencement and prosecution of litigation under the Uniform Condemnation Procedures Act (UCPA). We have been involved at both the trial court and appellate levels in cases that have helped establish the law governing the exercise of eminent domain by public agencies.
