Brian J. Casey joined Secrest Wardle in 2012. He is an experienced litigator with a long history of insurance defense work as well as practice in other areas of the law. He has tried numerous cases in circuit courts throughout the State of Michigan as well as federal district court. Mr. Casey has counseled and defended businesses and individuals involving premises liability matters, property damage claims, fraud and intentional tort claims, and first and third party automobile claims.

Mr. Casey has participated in numerous arbitration and mediation/facilitation hearings involving all types of civil litigation. He has been a defense case evaluator with the Wayne County Mediation Tribunal for over twenty five years. He has sat as a defense arbitrator on various American Arbitration and independent arbitration panels.

He has been awarded an “AV” Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Casey graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit in 1973 and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan the same year. He has been admitted to practice in the United States District Court for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan and is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Negligence Law Section.
