Samantha L. Lytle joined Secrest Wardle’s Grand Rapids office as a Partner in 2024 where she is a member of the Firm’s Motor Vehicle Litigation and Premises Liability Practice Groups. Samantha came into the practice of insurance defense law from a unique and diverse background. She graduated Ferris State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an extra focus on accounting. Additionally, she obtained associate degrees in both Applied Science of Pharmacy and in Paralegal Studies. Upon graduating from Ferris State University, she attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where she focused on Workers’ Compensation, Bankruptcy, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. During law school, she worked as a case mediator through the Wayne Mediation Center, mediating matters such as property boundary disputes, child custody matters, mechanics lien disputes, and other small claims.
Samantha spent two years with Progressive Insurance Company where she worked as a claims adjuster, handling total loss negotiations and PPI disputes with the State of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Transportation. She then joined the Progressive Litigation Department as a litigation adjuster where she handled fraud investigations, catastrophic claims, bodily injury claims, provider suits, pre-suit negotiations, first party PIP suits, agency attendant care disputes, Medicare and fee schedule disputes, priority disputes, DIFS appeals, and MCCA reimbursement disputes.
After working with Progressive, Samantha put her knowledge of the business world and the insurance industry to use in the legal field. She handled complex fraud investigations, housing modification agreements, MCCA litigation, agency attendant care disputes, tort negligence, first party PIP suits, provider suits, and premises liability matters.
In her free time, Samantha is an avid board gamer. She has a collection of over 350 board games and recently competed in the 2023 World Series of Board Gaming in Las Vegas.
Samantha is admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan and is an active member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Insurance and Indemnity Law Section.
