Maxwell Z. Cavellier joined Secrest Wardle’s Troy location as an Associate after passing the Bar Exam in 2025. He is a member of the Firm’s Governmental Litigation, Motor Vehicle Litigation, Municipal and Premises Liability practice groups.

Mr. Cavellier earned his undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Minor in Business. While at Wittenberg, Maxwell was a member of the Men’s Lacrosse Team and still spends his free time involved with the game but now as a coach. Maxwell went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where he was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient, a Book Award Recipient – Environmental Law Clinic and a G. Mennen Williams Oral Advocacy Tournament, Distinction Award Recipient. Maxwell was also a Student Clinician with the Traveling Expungement Clinic & Environmental Law Clinic while in law school.

Mr. Cavellier came to Secrest Wardle with a broad range of experience as both a Law Clerk and a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Victoria A. Valentine in Oakland County Circuit Court. Mr. Cavellier is admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan, and he is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Young Lawyers section.
