On January 11, 2018, the Michigan Supreme Court held oral arguments in Bazzi v Sentinel Ins Co to consider whether the innocent third-party doctrine will exist in the context of first-party No Fault cases after the plaintiff appealed the Court of Appeals decision which held that Titan Ins Co v Hyten applied to abrogate the innocent third-party rule in first-party No Fault cases even though Titan involved a third-party auto negligence claim. Secrest Wardle represented Sentinel in the trial court and has been co-counsel throughout the appeal.
