Secrest Wardle Celebrates Women’s Equality Day
Uncategorized / August 26, 2025
Today is Women’s Equality Day which is the Nation’s celebration of the 1920’s adoption of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution which prohibited the States and the Federal Government from denying citizens to the United States the right to vote on the basis of sex. Women’s Equality Day was first celebrated in 1973 when it was proclaimed a national day by a joint resolution of Congress. This was the culmination of a massive, peaceful civil rights movement which formally began in 1848 at the world’s first women’s rights convention.
Not only is this day designed to commemorate the passage of the 19th Amendment, but it is also designated to call direct attention to women’s continuing efforts toward full equality including full equality in the workplace.
The Firm remains committed to continuing its efforts toward ensuring equality in the workplace.
