Joseph J. Giacalone joined Secrest Wardle’s Troy office as an Associate in 2023. He is a member of the Firm’s Motor Vehicle Litigation, and Premises Liability practice groups. In addition to no‑fault and premises liability law, Joe is also experienced in workers’ compensation and appellate matters.
Mr. Giacalone attended Kalamazoo College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He also played on the Kalamazoo College Baseball Team. After undergrad, he attended Michigan State University College of Law, where he earned a certificate from the Geoffrey Feiger Trial Practice Institute. He also was a Senior Associate Editor for the Michigan State International Law Review and a Student Attorney for the Alvin L. Storrs Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Giacalone worked at a Macomb County law firm and was a legislative intern and an Assistant Legislative Director for State Senator Jim Runestad.
Mr. Giacalone has experience in representing both private individuals and government entities in first-party no-fault cases, automobile negligence cases, and other negligence matters. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. He is an active member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Negligence Law, Workers’ Compensation Law, and Young Lawyers Section.
